“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted”

Today we experience a complicated paradox. Dad took his last breath yesterday and he is no longer with us. We won’t get to talk to him anymore. Go on the walks that he grew to love so much. Enjoy the coffee that he made every morning. Because of this, we are filled with grief and sorrow.

On the other hand, we have tremendous joy because of our deep rooted belief about the life he is experiencing as I write this. We have joy that he is no longer in pain or suffering. He has finished his race and is in paradise with Jesus. We have hope in the Resurrection and that we will get to see him again when Christ returns to make all things new. It is this joy and hope that we cling to in the midst of our grief and sorrow.

For those of you that have prayed and supported our family in numerous ways during this journey, we are deeply grateful. We have truly felt the love of the body of Christ.

We plan to celebrate dad’s life on Saturday, April 6th at Hope Fellowship’s Frisco West campus. Time to be announced in the coming days.

If you knew my dad, or were touched by him in anyway, it would mean a great deal to our family if you could leave a comment about what he meant to you. We know his impact was great and being able to capture all of those thoughts in one place will allow us to be encouraged by them in the days, weeks and months ahead.

We are living in the truth of the words Jesus taught us in Matthew 5: 3-4 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Tonight we are comforted in our mourning because we have a good and gracious Father. And please, in honor of my dad remember …

You are loved and of great value.

- Michael
