The Gift of Grandchildren
Hey my friends. I hope each of you are doing well. Our weather in this part of the country is interesting. It truly can change day to day. A little chilly today but it won’t be long. Next Sunday thru Tuesday, 80’s to 90. Love this weather here in TX.
Running my 11th round of chemotherapy right now. To say I have not enjoyed one round of this would be an understatement. May actually enjoy the 12th round. I will be done and I honestly did not believe that when this started, I would still be here to take my 12th round. Very grateful, planning and hoping to be around for a while.
If I am around one thing I am excited about is, more time with my grandkids. I believe I shared with you, that early this month I was able to run up to OKC and celebrate, Liam’s first birthday. It was a great party and special to spend some time with him that day.
Natalie and I got back a few days ago from Atlanta. We got to meet our new grandson Micah, who is in his second month of life and a handsome little boy. Also got to spend special time with his big sister, Amelia who’s is our first grandchild. She is a little over 2 years old, and an amazing little girl.
I was so grateful to get to see the new grandson. He is in that beginning stage of, sleep, eat, poop and sleep some more. It was wonderful to hold him and see him at this stage of life. Holding him was very special. My wife Natalie might have a little different perspective. Each day she would hold Micah for 2 hours at a time!!! Wow! I loved to hold him, but not sure I was good for 2 hours at a time. I am hoping I will be around long enough to see him grow and walk. I defiantly enjoy these grandkids when they can walk and play.
My granddaughter is a master of this. Amelia’s ability to play for hours and hours is amazing. She takes one nap a day and goes to bed each evening and the rest of the time she is playing. It was special to read her books and play with each of her favorite toys. She hit a very special area for me.
Amelia loves to go to the park. I am a big fan of that myself. Amelia at 2 loves to run in the park. I quickly agreed to run with her. At my current health condition I felt like I could keep up with her. I had no idea anyone took this picture of she and I.
This was one of my favorite things to do with one of my grandkids. When I saw this picture I almost cried. I honestly enjoy my grandkids in so many ways. I don’t want to take them for granted when I have some time to spend with them.
After my major surgery a year ago, physically and mentally I felt bad. I also felt like my clock was ticking and I did not have much time to be around. It was vey challenging to focus on my grandkids and even spend time with them. Over the months I started feeling better and my mindset began to slowly change. Today I want to take any and ever chance to spend time with my grandchildren. I don’t know how long I have. That is really true of any of us. We don’t know how long we have to spend time we special people in our lives.
Running with my 2yr old granddaughter was vey special. Holding my new born grandson Micah mattered to me. Being at Liam’s first birthday party was a great gift.
Do you have anyone in your life you need to spend a little extra time with? Make it happen. Enjoy that time with the people that matter to you!
Remember, “Like my Grandchildren, You are Loved and of Great Value.”
Peace,
