Living Life Well

Monday is here and it is a little chilly!!! Hope you had a great weekend and most of you are ready for a cold week. Maybe even a little ice and snow. Made my walk this morning kind of cold. Tuesday is also here and helped me finish my thoughts!!!

Visited this morning with one of my dearest friends. Bill is in Portland and he is also navigating this cancer journey with a terminal cancer. We talk every week and discuss many, many topics. One of our topics today, we talked about walking and the value he and I find on a walk. It matters very much.

I thought about this often while walking last week and wanted to share a a few thoughts on my post today.

Several years ago I was working many hours a week. I loved what I was doing but was getting unbalanced with work and life. Was still reading my bible every day, exercising and journaling but other things were getting moved more and more to the side.

Being diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor and a major surgery had another impact on daily focus. After that surgery and a belief that my life was about over, the only thing I continued to do was, reading my bible and walking. For 6-8 months I blamed most of that on the surgery and ongoing chemo, but honestly believed the clock was ticking and some of those other areas that had been important didn’t seem to matter anymore.

August of 2022 I began to see and understand a different perspective about life. I was starting to physically feel better, started to believe I may be around for longer than normal and it was time to start “LIVING” in a different way. I have started to refocus on things that have been very important to me in my past. This is an area I believed in and even worked with others to help them identify areas that mattered and areas to focus and put energy into.

If I ask you, “what are some areas of life that matter to you and you put consistent valuable time into?” These areas of life matter and I want to encourage each of you to make this happen in healthy ways.

I took my walk this morning. It was a little different and was also wonderful. The temp was in the 20’s, the wind was blowing, it sleeted a little at one point and every area was covered in ice. I only fell twice, no major injuries and life was good. These walks have always been special but these days “a walk” has turned into one of the greatest things I do every day.

It’s my time. Time to pray, talk to God about various things, time to think about my life, how I have lived and how do I want to live. My walks matter. I have walked in the heat, comfortable weather, the rain and now ice and snow. I have walked when I felt like “crap” and at times now when I even jog a little because I feel so much better.

Your life matters. Find some healthy ways to enjoy your life! Work, responsibilities, day to day chores etc. those things matter. It is rare that during those activities you have time to relax, reflect and think about “LIFE!”

Figure out what blesses you in healthy ways. Then begin to be more and more consistent taking time to focus on “your incredible life.”

Never ever forget,,,,,,,,, YOU ARE LOVED AND OF GREAT VALUE!!!!!!!
