“RUNNING HILLS”

Good Morning and Happy Friday! Hope you have had a good week. Maybe our weather is like life. Have had sunshine, storms, rain, hail, wind a real mixture of weather conditions. Today looks like it will be a beautiful day! Take a walk and enjoy the sunshine.

I get to go do a couple of hours of pre-surgery stuff at the hospital today. Won’t be a big deal but not something I have much interest in, except I do want the surgery next week to go well. Still planning on a walk with Gracie this morning and maybe home this afternoon for a little sunshine.

How many of you have done some training around running? Running until the last several years has been a part of my life. For many years I trained to run in everything from 5K’s to a marathon. Most of the running process I enjoyed. Not so much the “running hills.”

I had a hill in Argyle that I would jog to as a warm up and then run a certain amount of hills. Let’s say I was running 10 hills. The process was to run up the hill as hard as possible, slowly jog back down and then turn and run back up the hill as hard as possible. At times for some reason I kind of enjoyed this process and other times it was miserable. Maybe if you have trained this way you can relate.

I honestly have no idea why this hit me today. I am sitting in my office at after getting up at 4:45, drinking my first cup of coffee and reading through my different Bible plans and then sitting in my chair thinking. It kind of hits me upside the head. Right now my life feels like I am running hills. I am tired of running hills and want to stop!!!!

Maybe this life is very much like running hills. Running hills makes you stronger and can prepare you better for races that you will run. Life, everyones life, has some challenges, some hills that we have to get up. I wish that were not the case but it simply is our life reality.

Running hills when training is about improving your ability to run a race, it is about improving your performance, running capacity and improving your physical conditioning. What if some of these challenges, hills we have to navigate in this life can do the same thing?

Life is full of different challenges. If we train well, focus on life training, we can absolutely grow, spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. I want to be that guy. But some days it is absolutely challenging.

Just like training to run a race, some day’s I enjoy the hills and some days they are a beat down. I know they make a difference and I know they make me stronger.

What are some of the hills, challenges that you are walking through today? I want to encourage you to run the hills. Create a plan, get support, don’t run the hills alone day after day. But keep training. Life can be challenging, training well helps us finish the race.

Remember you are loved and of great value!!!

Peace,
